When Town and Country magazine sent Charles Baker on assignment around the world, what followed was a 2-volume compilation, unique in the history of cocktail and cooking recipe guidebooks. Charles H. Baker Jr. lived in Coconut Grove, Florida, when he wasn't venturing around the world, while he held a prestigious position of the Food and Drink Editor of Town and Country Magazine and the drink editor of GOURMET Magazine and later contributed articles to Esquire. He published the Gentleman's Companion and the South American Gentleman's Companion.
